Translate your experiment into automation steps
Build your workflow by easily defining:
- All of the liquids required in your workflow
- Hardware to be used
- Actions to be performed
Standard automation software is difficult and inflexible to use. On top of this every new piece of equipment requires programing using a new software. Antha's Standard Element Set contains everything required to easily automate any standard laboratory experiment. From simple serial dilutions and mixing workflows, to more complex HiBit and Kinase assays, Antha makes automation easy.
Antha's Standard Element Set allows users to:
Antha's elements are written in scientific jargon allowing for experiments to be easily translated into automation steps
Send your workflow to any of your automation devices using Antha's device agnostic software.
All previous Antha workflows are easily accessible letting you open, edit, and run previous workflows in seconds.
Elements are a key concept in Antha. They translate human readable actions into machine instructions. You can define how the experiment will be performed through the element input parameters.
Elements form the visual user interface to Antha’s planning engine. Antha interprets your requirements and translates these into complex robot instructions. Input volumes are also calculated and the labware needed is determined.
You can create workflows in Antha by connecting elements together to specify the flow of physical materials and information.
A simple workflow example is connecting an element where liquids and their properties are defined (e.g. liquid names, concentrations, pH, and so on) with an element that aliquots these liquids onto a plate as desired.
Antha’s execution preview shows everything you need to visualize your workflow prior to execution. See how Antha calculates all liquid transfer steps in order to achieve the desired assay and organizes plate movement between devices within a multidevice workflow. Layouts of your device and plates are provided to enable setup in the lab.
The preview also shows every liquid handling action in order of execution with a useful step-by-step time estimate. This minimizes the chances of errors, and gives you an immediate estimate of walk-away time. Hovering over individual transfers will indicate the selected liquid handling policies.
Our Standard Element Set is available on multiple different liquid handlers and dispensers including Hamilton, Tecan, Gilson and SPT Labtech.
The Antha planning engine parses the high-level inputs specified in your workflow, including the experimental design, selected labware and deck layout. The planning engine converts these instructions into low-level instructions such as the liquid handling steps and the exact labware positions on your predefined deck layout.
Yes, custom deck layouts can be chosen in Antha. The user can define multiple deck configurations for the same liquid handler mode.
AnthaHub automatically sends log and configuration files to the cloud for storage in your organization’s private data repository in Antha from the liquid handler’s native software.
An ELISA experiment can be executed with an integrated system with a liquid handler, plate washer and reader physically joined, or by executing the liquid handling and washing steps with a physically disconnected plate reader connecting the data. AnthaHub will bring in the outcomes from pipetting with the plate reader for data processing in the cloud software.
Although calendar integrations are not yet available in Antha, the estimated run times as calculated by Antha’s planning engine provide an accurate timing for you to ensure that you have booked enough time on your desired devices to execute your experiments.
Antha will work out the changes necessary to implement your workflow. You simply need to upload your deck configuration and re-simulate — Antha will use your new worktable layout to determine the necessary instructions.
Antha comes with its own library of different liquid handling policies for all types of liquids. You can select different liquid handling policies for each of the liquid handling steps. Different samples can have different policies, and these policies can be linked to your liquid classes on certain liquid handling devices.
Yes, Antha’s cherry picker is one example of that. Another example would be DOE runs with hard to change factors where we would need to run across two workflows.
Experimental results can be searched and accessed by everyone in your group/organization who has an account in Antha. If you would like to discuss access control and data security in more detail, please drop us an email or use the “Request a demo” button at the top of the page.
